(Philippine government requires physicians obtain a temporary permit to practice their specialty
from the
Board of
Medicine in
the country. FAMI coordinates all necessary documents).

- Orthopedic Surgeons
- Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons
- General Surgeons
- Anesthesiologists
- Pediatricians
- Medical Internists

Physician
Assistant
- Registered Nurses
( OR, Recovery Room,
Ambulatory Care)
- Other Volunteers are also needed in administrative support. FAMI tries to limit
volunteers
per mission.

Important Information about the mission.
FAMI Medical
& Surgical
Missions are
usually held
in the last two
weeks of
February in
the
Philippines.
Medical &
Surgical
Missions
coordinates
with local
non-government
organizations
and
non-profit
foundations
at a
designated
charity
hospital.
These
hospitals
normally
have basic
operating
room
equipment. Patients
are
pre-screened
and the
local
hospital
staff does
postoperative
cares.
FAMI
encourages
partnership
with local
community
and
non-government
organization
(NGO) in
serving the
needy.
The
volunteers
pay travel
expenses to
the
Philippines.
Local
sponsors or
FAMI
normally
pays for lodging,
food and
local
transportation.
FAMI obtains
Philippine
government
requirements
for
physician
temporary
permit to
practice in
country. Not
all members
can be
accommodated
each year
for surgical
and medical
missions due
to our
limited
resources
FAMI mission
volunteer
process is
a
combination
of
invitation
to essential
medical
professionals
(some
spouses),
board
members and
an open
lottery. The
maximum team
size per
year is 40 from the US
and 20 from
the
Philippines.
